Final Fantasy IX: A Classic RPG Adventure
Final Fantasy IX is a role-playing game developed by Square and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2000 for the PlayStation console. The game takes place in a medieval fantasy world called Gaia, where players follow the story of Zidane Tribal, a bandit who kidnaps the Alexandrian princess, Garnet Til Alexandros XVII, as part of a plan to take down her mother, Queen Brahne of Alexandria. Along with Garnet and a diverse cast of characters, Zidane embarks on a quest to stop the war and defeat the real menace behind it, Kuja.
Final Fantasy IX departs from the futuristic settings of its predecessors and returns to the medieval style of the first six installments. The game features new elements to the series, such as "Active Time Event" cutscenes, "Mognet", and unique equipment and skill systems. The game has received critical acclaim and is considered one of the best Final Fantasy titles, with a Metacritic score of 94. It has sold over 5 million copies worldwide and was re-released as a PSOne Classic on the PlayStation Store in 2010, and in 2016, ports featuring minor gameplay and graphical enhancements were released for iOS, Android, and Microsoft Windows, followed by a port for PlayStation 4 in 2017.
